Kenmare Bay is located in the South West of Ireland on the stunning 'Ring of Kerry' and the Wild Atlantic Way, bordered by the Iveragh Peninsula on one side and the Beara Peninsula on the other. Kenmare Bay is a Special Area of Conservation and the area abounds with history, wildlife and the rugged terrain Ireland is so well known for. The surrounding area boasts castles, ring forts, stone circles, and a wide array of wildlife, including seals, dolphins, white tailed sea eagles, and the potential otter! In September the area is known to have a beautiful showcase of bioluminescence.
The sheltered location offers perfect paddle conditions with plenty of inlets and islands to explore along the way. Our equipment is specially selected to perfectly handle the rugged terrain and unpredictable weather of Ireland's west coast. With the supplied board, paddle, leash, buoyancy aid and wetsuit you will be warm, comfortable and paddling happy for the duration of the trip.
Ireland's west coast is located directly on the Gulf Stream, bringing warm water up from the Caribbean. This keeps Ireland's climate mild and temperate - never too hot and never too cold. In September the average air temperature ranges between 18° and 14°C (64° and 57°F) while sea temperatures at this time average 15°C (59°F). It's a good time to visit the island as the crowds are fewer and the weather is still fair.
Bask in luxury accommodation after a good day's paddle. Arrive at some of Ireland's best hotels with a sense of accomplishment and elation. Sink in to the soft beds and relax in a hot tub while over looking the spectacular bay you just paddled through.
Nights will be spent at Parknasilla Hotel and Resort, Sheen Falls Lodge and the Sneem Hotel, among others. Each night will be spent in a different beautiful setting giving you a taste of why Irish hospitality is world famous.
We'll arrange for your luggage to be moved to the next location each day giving you complete freedom out on the water.
Irish cuisine is all about quality ingredients. The focus lies on grass fed meat and dairy, wild caught seafood, locally grown root vegetables, all in all, food the way it's meant to taste. From casual pub dining to 5 star resort restaurants, prepare to be amazed by the culinary delights of Ireland.
We'll be dinning in local pubs, hotel restaurants and catered for by our own personal chef. Our lunches will be picnic fair sourced from local artisan food producers, eaten al fresco along the way. You'll be well fed and watered every step of the journey, ready for the next adventure.
The true locals are the heart and sole of Ireland. They have the stories, the history and the music to match. They are the ones who know the area like the back of their hand. Some of them love to share their insider knowledge and some just love the chat.
We have organised to meet a few of these amazing people and to introduce them to you along the way. On this adventure you will meet the characters that bring extra colour to the Irish landscape. They will have you laughing, crying, and dancing, sometimes all at once. They will tell you the stories and sing you songs that no one else can. These are the people you would be hard pressed to meet anywhere else.
These are the moments you will remember forever, the people who will make you smile years down the line.

Due to the weather dependent nature of stand up paddle boarding there is a small chance that we will be unable to paddle on one or more of the scheduled days. In this scenario, never fear! We have some great alternative plans set in motion for just such an occasion. These include hiking to hidden waterfalls, exploring ancient ruins and much more. We are ready for anything! The local knowledge of the tour guides mean that a fantastic time will be had regardless of whether we are paddle boarding the whole time or not.
Please Note: This is a very rare occurrence!
