FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will I be cold?

No! We provide winter wetsuits on all our tours. The 5mm of neoprene are more than enough to keep you warm during an Irish Spring and Summer

Is stand up paddle boarding hard?

No! To get a hang on the basics, which is all you need for one of our tours, it takes about 10 minutes. We give a short lesson on the land and then give ample time to get comfortable once on the board. By the end of the trip you'll feel like a pro!

Do I need any prior experience?

No! Our tours are for novice and experienced paddlers alike. We'll show you what to do if it's all new or just show you the best spots if it's all familiar.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes! However, they need to be over 10 years old. We bring tow ropes out in case a child is struggling but we ask that all kids be self sufficient.

What is the weather like?

Weather in Ireland varies greatly from day to day. It never gets too cold, or too hot. In Spring and Summer you can expect temperatures ranging from 10°C (50°F) to 20°C (68°F). Sea temperatures range from 9°C (48°F) to 17°C (62°F) in August.

Can we see the caves?

Most days yes. However, we base all our tours on the weather conditions for that specific day and not all of our routes go into the caves. We only go into the caves when it is safe.

What equipment do you have?

We use hard boards with a keel nose to cut through the water with ease. They are BIC Duratec and Toughtec construction to hold up against the rocky coast. We use adjustable aluminium paddles, coiled leashes and Helly-Hansen life jackets. We provide 3mm and 5mm wetsuits from Sola and Tiki. We have a few dry-bags on hand if you fancy bringing a snack!

Can I rent equipment?

No. Due to the nature of the water and the conditions we do not rent equipment. We would be happy to take you on a tour though! We know all the best places to paddle in any condition.

How fit do I need to be?

Not very fit at all! SUP boarding is about the equivalent of taking a light hike. Our boards are stable and buoyant. If you can stand up on land, you can stand up on a paddle board!

Is it an extreme sport?

No. SUP Boarding is much easier than surfing. We do what is called SUP Touring and it is easy going and relaxing. It's very peaceful on the water in this way but is still great craic!

Is it safe?

Yes! We provide buoyancy aids and leashes so the board will never get very far away from you even if you do fall off. Our tour guide is a certified beach life guard and first aid-er.

What do I need to bring?

All you need to bring along is yourself, a bathing suit, a towel, and some water to drink. If it's sunny, don't forget sunscreen!
